THE TRAP SETTERS During deployment you can place a Trap counter touching the Prowler?s base. As soon as a friendly or enemy figurine (excepting the Wolfen who set this trap and his Unit) moves at altitude level 0 within a radius of 5 cm around this counter, the trap is triggered: the fighter then suffers a Damage Roll (STR 5). If several figurines enter the trap?s perimeter at the same time, then it is up to the player who set the trap to choose the Damage Roll's target. If several figurines enter the area of effect of several traps, then a different target must be chosen for each one. If the target survives, then it can continue its movement. Once the trap has been triggered, remove the counter. If, during the game, the Prowler is not in contact with an opponent at the end of the movement phase, then you can place another Trap counter touching his base. The Prowler can set an unlimited number of traps during a battle. However, a Trap counter cannot be placed within less than 5 cm of another and cannot be moved. If a Prowler or his Unit enters the perimeter of a trap set by a different Prowler, roll 1d6. On a result of ?1? to ?3? the trap is triggered. On a result of ?4? to ?6? the Prowler detects the trap and it is not triggered. If this Prowler spends the remainder of the round within the trap?s perimeter without firing or touching an opponent, the player can remove the Trap counter.
THE MASTERS OF THE HUNT Prowlers are unrivalled trappers whose skills are admired by the other hunters of the pack. Most of them are solitary wanderers, yet it sometimes happens that one of them takes a young Wolfen under his wing as an apprentice. Only Wolfen Hunters who are not a Pariah can become an apprentice. Each apprentice costs 7 A.P. more than his normal value. In no way can this additional cost modify their number of wound levels and their combat dice in Rag?Narok. In Confrontation you can select an apprentice for every Prowler within your army. In Rag?Narok a Prowler can be named Leader of any Unit of non-Pariah Wolfen Hunters. If this Unit is a Detachment, then the Hunters forming it can be made apprentices. If you choose to do so, then ALL of the Detachment's Hunters must be made apprentices. An apprentice acquires the ?Scout' ability. If he has an Aim rating, then he also gets the ?Harassment' ability. If he does not have this characteristic, then he gains the ?Trap Setter? aptitude as if he were a Wolfen Prowler himself. In Rag?Narok a Unit of apprentice Prowler Hunters can benefit from the effects of the ?Scout' ability only as long as it remains a Detachment.
LUNAR SLING The prowler observed a small group located outside of the main body of the enemy army. One of the humans was drawing symbols in the dust while the two others seemed to be in a trance. The Wolfen bared his fangs with a wicked grin. Silently he crawled to within several metres and placed a crystalline orb into his sling?s leather pouch. Grabbing his long sabre by the sheath, he spun it around before releasing the projectile. The fragile ball exploded on the ground, covering the three magicians in a thick cloud of smoke. Disoriented and panicking, they didn't see the prowler?s tall figure approaching. All three of them died without a whimper.
During the firing phase a Prowler can use his sling instead of his crossbow. The sling?s range is 15-25-35. The Prowler can, if he wishes, aim at a spot on the battlefield instead of a figurine. Resolve the shot using the light artillery with zone effect rules. A result of ?1? on the Aim Roll indicates an automatic failure, yet this doesn't prevent the Prowler from using his sling in the next round. The projectiles don't cause any damage, but they release a thick cloud of smoke. Until the end of the round all lines of sight at altitude level 0 are blocked within a radius of 5 cm around the centre of the dispersion template. All marksmen, magicians and faithful gifted with the ?Consciousness' ability or subject to a similar effect can act in the usual way despite the smoke screen.
